Katie is one of our Advanced Senior Trainers and a valued member of the team. She is a Professional Member of the Pet Professional Network (PPN), a member of the Pet Professional Guild for Force-Free Dog Trainers (PPG), and an Approved Instructor with the Dog Training College.

​

In addition to her extensive dog training experience, Katie volunteers with Rainbows, working with young children with various needs. This volunteer work enriches her ability to support families whose dogs are on the path to become assistance dogs.

​

With years of assisting in classes and workshops, Katie brings a wealth of experience in working with diverse dogs and their owners. She remains committed to continuous education, regularly attending courses and seminars to stay updated on the latest research and advancements in dog training and behaviour. Her proactive approach to learning includes networking with fellow professionals to broaden her expertise.

​

Katie is passionate about reward-based training, using treats, toys, games, and plenty of praise to ensure every dog in her care enjoys their learning experience. She prioritises high welfare standards, and as a 5-star licensed home boarder with Guildford Borough Council, she ensures dogs feel safe and cared for throughout their stay.

 

Katie only takes in one to two dogs at a time, offering each a personal and exclusive training experience tailored to their unique needs.

​

Based near a bustling town as well as the Surrey Hills, Katie has access to a variety of training environments, allowing her to customise her approach to each dog’s individual requirements.

 

She specialises in working with small dogs (15 kg and under) and is an ideal trainer for young puppies needing early socialisation as well as older dogs with specific training needs. Katie goes above and beyond to provide tailored support, sharing regular photos and videos to keep owners updated on their dog’s progress.

As part of our Online Academy, Katie shares her expertise through live videos and video tutorials, providing academy members with insights into her training methods and additional guidance.

​

Katie also has access to the Directors’ two children (ages 8 and 11) for dogs needing training around kids, as well as a range of animal companions, including three dog-savvy cats, nine goats, and giant tortoises. With two dogs of her own—a Pug, and a Cocker Spaniel—Katie has first-hand experience in managing a multi-dog household and training across different ages and breeds.

Charlie the Norfolk Terrier | 5 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Charlie is heading home after his 5 week residential training stay. Charlie is a complex little man and trigger stacks immensely. This can lead to him reacting to traffic, wildlife and other dogs on walks. It’s been tricky juggling all his training needs and keeping his stress levels low but also a priority not to overwhelm Charlie during such intensive training! During his stay, we’ve carefully and slowly worked through Charlie’s reactivity to traffic, building his confidence up aswell as his focus and control. Whilst there is a long way to go for Charlie boy, he has made some incredible progress in such a difficult area for him. Charlie has made fantastic improvements with his overall focus and ability to listen and respond on walks both off lead around other dogs and wildlife and on lead in busier town environments too. It’s been such a journey for Charlie and his family have our ongoing support over the coming months. Minke the Chihuahua has returned home after his four-week residential training stay tailored to his bustling city lifestyle. This sweet little guy initially struggled with low confidence and was highly reactive toward dogs and people, especially in busy environments like shops, towns, and cafes, as well as on his daily walks. Throughout his stay, Minke has truly shone, and his confidence has blossomed. While he can still feel uncertain at times, his family now has a full set of cues and techniques to support him and continue building his confidence at home. Luna the 6 month Miniature Labradoodle has returned home after her 3 weeks training. The main focus for Luna's stay has been her focus around distractions, especially other dogs. Luna's mum had taught her a lot of cues before her stay but was struggling to progress to any focus around dogs and people. During her stay, Luna has learnt how to stay more focused on walks and we've built up a much more reliable response to recall. Luna can still struggle when playing with other dogs but her family have new skills in place to continue helping her with this. Florence the Cocker Spaniel Puppy - 2 Weeks Residential Dog Training

Florence the 5 month Cocker Spaniel puppy has returned home after her 2 week residential training stay. Florence is a gorgeous little pup and loved by everyone who meets her. It was important to her family that Florence had a great foundation of training and was socialised properly. They didn't want a puppy who runs off to greet everyone so we've spent a lot of time working on recall from distractions and progressing Florence's training as much as possible. Florence is an incredibly fast learner and loves her training so this has enabled us to teach her a whole range of cues and work on these around a range of distractions. The other key focus for Florence's stay was lead walking skills. Being a typically Spaniel puppy, she was becoming quite strong for her owner so it was essential to get some better lead skills in place. We're looking forward to welcoming Florence back in a couple of months time to help progress her training further and help work through and adolescent struggle the pop up!

Mushu the Keeshond - 2 Weeks Assistance Dog Residential - Gold Award

Mushu the Keeshond has returned home after his 2 week assistance dog residential stay. Mushu and his mum have been working so hard on his training and he had a solid foundation before we started. His short stay was aimed to pass his gold assistance dog award and ensure all the behaviours were super reliable. Mushu did a fantastic job with this and is now ready to take his award with his mum. Mushu had a few small struggles he needed a little help with. He attracts a lot of attention from other dogs and gets an unusual amount of persistent botty sniffs. This can understandably make Mushu feel uncomfortable so we’ve worked on strengthening his responses to cues so we can move him out of these situations easily! We’ve also worked on his cat and fox reactivity and encouraging calmness around stairs! Now Mushu is home we’re looking forward to working with him and his mum over the next few months to get them access test ready!
